Clair Joy is a Canadian, London-based artist who has been included in exhibitions at the Serpentine Gallery, London and PS1, New York. She has completed (2010) a Practice-Based PhD in Art at Goldsmiths College, London. Her text reconsiders landscape painting by examining the work of writers such as Henri Lefebvre and Michel de Certeau and artists Robert Smithson, Alighiero e Boetti and Eugenio Dittborn as redefining landscape painting in a contemporary context.
